Windows 8 Running On New MacBook Pro With Retina Display [IMAGES]

by Abdelrahman Mohamed on June 17, 2012

Too many people wish to have both Windows 7 and Windows 8 on their MacBook pro and I know that there is already some programs that can do this, but have you ever thought how Windows 8 and Windows 7 will looks like on the new MacBook pro which Apple has announced it at the WWDC 2012 ?! A new guy called Anand Lal Shimpi and he is the owner of AnandTech has done looking into the matter. He was able to get both Windows 7 and Windows 8 functioning on the machine, with some varying results.

In order to run Windows 7 on the new MacBook pro it starts from a resolution 800×600 while Windows 8 needs 1024×768. Maybe someone asks me why these default resolution are so low ?! Well that’s because  the GeForce GT 650M doesn’t have a compatible driver for the Windows OS, and as such the VGA driver takes over. Keep in mind however, that these resolutions can be turned up to a maximum of 1600 x 1200 on Windows 7 and 2880 x 1800 on Windows 8.

And as Windows 7 doesn’t have an NVIDA driver will not be able to be displayed at the Retina MacBook Pro’s native resolution. Windows 8 on the other hand can indeed be ran at  2880 x 1800, but due to scaling issues the text and default UI elements are quite small.

So what do you think ?! Looks great right ?!

this article is wrong!! i installed windows 7 on my macbook pro retina display and it is running at 2880×1800 with 200% scaling, it looks great. there is a driver for the GT 650M, it gets installed when you download the windows support files from the boot camp assistant along with the nvidia driver program

WTF doesn’t this guy understand how to use boot camp drivers, to install nVidea drivers in windows 7 and 8.
Okay the MacOSX OS looks much better.
